New manufacturing materials – Bamboo

Nuevos materiales de fabricación – El Bambú

Today we want to bring you a product that has begun to be used in the textile industry, and that is now booming in the world of fashion, bamboo.

The fiber with which bamboo garments are made is currently considered one of the best alternatives for manufacturing, since it has properties very similar to cotton, and, unlike other materials, it is totally sustainable and of extraordinary quality. ; In addition, it provides garments with a soft touch and a thermal sensation that facilitates the conservation of heat in winter and coolness in summer.

Technically, bamboo has antibacterial properties and has the ability to block UVA rays from the sun by up to 98%, making it very useful for dressing in summer and naturally avoiding sunburn.

From an ecological point of view, the bamboo plant grows and reproduces at great speed, without needing manure or fertilizers, it does not require extraordinary care and it hardly has any predators, so pesticides are not necessary either. It is also 100% biodegradable and does not need large amounts of water as is the case with cotton crops.

In its manufacture we would highlight the following four main steps:

  1. Extraction of the pulp from its interior.
  2. Washing to remove impurities.
  3. Drying and classification in its different qualities.
  4. Finally, we proceed to the scouring to obtain that softness typical of the fiber. Once the desired fabric is obtained, it is bleached and dyed.

We hope the article has been interesting for you!
